Biography
Scott R. Helton is the member and manager of Helton Law Firm. After decades of practicing in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, general business transactional matters, complex estate planning, probates, trust administration and litigation, and real estate title and transaction matters, he now spends most of his time focused on developing a law firm that delivers exceptional client experiences. He is passionate about building efficient systems, developing talented attorneys and staff, and borrowing best practices from other industries to create a modern legal practice centered on service, empathy and genuine relationships with clients.
Scott believes his commitment to building a service-oriented law firm is heavily influenced by his upbringing in rural Oklahoma. Growing up in the small town of Empire and attending school in Duncan taught him to work hard, be humble and treat people the way he would want to be treated. Entering the legal profession over twenty years ago, however, was a bit shocking. Scott found that impersonal and sometimes condescending interactions with clients were normal, along with a prevailing attitude that clients should just be grateful to hear from their lawyer at all.
Those early experiences motivated Scott to create a different kind of law firm. When he started Helton Law Firm over a decade ago, Scott set a foundation built around service to families and business owners. His goal has always been to make legal matters easier, less intimidating, more comfortable and more personal. That mindset continues to guide the firm today as the team works to create a culture where attorneys are not only smart and capable, but also empathetic and client focused. The result is a firm that never stops searching for ways to improve, with the goal of exceeding client expectations one hundred percent of the time.
Scott jokes that running the firm is both his job and all his hobbies. But outside the office, Scott also loves travel and the great outdoors. He has been married almost thirty years to his spunky and beautiful wife, Carrie, and they have three terrific adult children. The Heltons have hiked and camped in over twenty-five national parks and, when the kids were younger, traveled in their RV over fifteen thousand miles around the country in three years. According to Scott, the two most interesting, wise and fun groups of people in the world are hikers and the people you meet at RV parks.
